Description

This was for me an exercise in drawing with reference, but not copying it. Also a test for me to see if I could draw the beautiful skin of a black woman with my colourpencils, because I usually draw with graphite.
I was very happy with how it came out :)
Not my best in terms of details and lighting, but I like all the different values and the fact I didn't copy the reference pics.

I tried to give her an expression which was a bit mysterious and unreadable, hope that shows :)

The scanner killed some values and shades, so especially some parts in the headscarf look a bit awkward.

PS: added also a full version! :)

Very nice work, especially with skin tones! :)
I only wish that the upper part of the head was visible ;)

A mars eraser might fix that smudge on the left. You have a mark suggesting where her shoulder is. I think you could do a bit more to show where her shoulders and torso are, so she's not floating in negative space. Just a few subtle marks or some shading would help a lot.

Excellent work with the color pencils. Her skin is glowing and she looks like she's standing in warm light.

I like the vivid colors and the interesting skin texture. The headdress color accents the reds in her face. Nice work.
